Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed made an impressive comeback as wicketkeeper as he took four catches during the first innings of the opening Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
Sarfaraz was highly criticised for poor work behind the stumps in Pakistan's last Test against New Zealand in Karachi back in January this year. Despite saving the second Test by scoring a hundred, Sarfaraz remained under the knife for dropping catches and missing stump chances.
His selection in the ongoing Test was also questioned by fans as they thought Mohammad Rizwan was a better choice in terms of wicketkeeping. But, Sarfaraz proved his critics wrong.
The wicketkeeper took three catches on day one, and a catch on day two to give a befitting reply to his critics.
After an improved performance as a wicketkeeper, Sarfaraz was highly praised on social media.
In his last Test, Sarfaraz scored a century on last day to save the Test for Pakistan in Karachi. It was Sarfaraz's comeback series after a gap of almost four years.
The Test in Galle is also crucial for Sarfaraz to decide his future. His record in Sri Lanka is impressive and assures balance and experience in Pakistan's batting going forward in the first Test of two-match series which is a part of the third cycle of ICC Test Championship.
Pakistan bowled out Sri Lanka for 312 runs on the second day. Dhananjaya de Silva scored 122 runs including 12 boundaries and three maximums.
